2001 the People's Grocery has made it its mission
to bring healthy, affordable grub to lower income
folks in Oakland. Their solar powered mobile
market could be seen darting through the streets
of West Oakland dropping off organic fruits
and veggies while their food programs and cooking
workshops steadily promoted the powers of healthy
eating. In their latest step toward their longtime goal of opening a collectively-owned market, the People’s Grocery has partnered with Bryant to host a series of monthly "People's Grub Parties." The parties will feature a cooking demonstration and tasting led; free bags of produce; a mini-workshop led by Peer Nutrition Educators; and performance by local artists.
