i first met Alice Waters in 2005 when i came from new york to the bay area to live for the summer. we had coffee at her café fanny, and she gave me some great advice for uniquely contributing to the food justice movement. her help over the years has been instrumental in my success as an artist, and her vision continues to fuel my activism. most recently alice invited me to do a cooking demonstration at the “green kitchen” that she put together for slow food nation. she even joined me on stage at the end of my demo to talk about the importance of infusing art, culture, and pleasure into the delicious revolution.
