Google Food Lab 2024 brought together an invited community of practitioners working across food, beverage, and related systems to collectively consider the future of the sector, including pathways toward more healthful, environmentally regenerative, and socially responsible products and practices. Convened by Google, the Food Lab functions as a forum for long-range thinking, cross-disciplinary exchange, and values-driven experimentation.

At the close of the second day, bryant joined his longtime mentor Alice Waters in a public conversation reflecting on their respective practices and shared commitments to food as a site of culture, ethics, and care. The dialogue was followed by a family-style meal conceived as an extension of the exchange, featuring dishes inspired by both Waters’s and bryant’s culinary oeuvres.

Within bryant’s broader studio practice, the gathering operated as a relational work, using conversation and shared food to model intergenerational exchange, hospitality, and the possibility of food systems grounded in pleasure, responsibility, and justice.
